Hey Dreamers! If you’re planning Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026, we just got back from opening day with our family, and we have plenty to tell you. Disneyland is one of our favorite places to experience Halloween, and this year brings back some of the classics we love along with a few special surprises.

From the incredible Main Street pumpkins and Halloween characters to Haunted Mansion Holiday celebrating 25 years, there is plenty to see, eat and experience. And if you’re a Haunted Mansion collector, keep reading because we found a limited edition anniversary collectible you will want to know about.

Halloween Time at Disneyland runs through October 31, 2026, so whether you’re planning a dedicated Halloween trip or simply have a Disneyland day during your vacation, here’s what we think you should know.

Disneyland Goes All In for Halloween

The first thing you’ll notice is Main Street, U.S.A. The giant Mickey pumpkin, colorful pumpkins and fall decorations completely change the look and feel of Disneyland, and the Main Street Pumpkin Festival is one of our favorite parts of the season.

This is also where you’ll want to plan your classic Halloween photos. Just know that you’re not going to be the only one with that idea. The Mickey pumpkin can get busy, so give yourself time to enjoy the area rather than rushing through it.

The Halloween characters are another big draw, with Mickey, Minnie and friends dressed in their seasonal outfits. We love these meet and greets, but there is one thing you should know before you get in line: they can be long. If seeing several characters is important to your family, build that time into your day. These are not necessarily quick five minute stops.

Oh and don’t think you can grab a quick shot of this famous Mickey pumpkin. Behind me is a 30 minute line for the front and back!

Don’t Miss the Halloween Cavalcade

The Halloween cavalcade at Disneyland is one of those little experiences that can make your entire day better. Check the Disneyland app for the day’s entertainment times and, if you want to see it from Main Street, find a spot and enjoy it rather than trying to catch it while you’re walking somewhere else.

It’s only a few minutes long, but watching the characters come through in their Halloween costumes, with the music and seasonal atmosphere around you, is just plain fun. This is one we would absolutely make time for.

Halloween Fireworks Requires a Little Planning

When night falls, Halloween Screams brings spooky projections, music, Disney villains and, on select nights, fireworks to Disneyland. The important words there are select nights.

Don’t assume fireworks will happen on your Disneyland day. Check the entertainment schedule before your trip and again in the Disneyland app while you’re there. If fireworks are important to your family, make sure your date includes the fireworks presentation before building your evening around it.

Haunted Mansion Holiday Turns 25

This is a big year for one of our favorite Disneyland traditions. Haunted Mansion Holiday is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, bringing Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas back into the Haunted Mansion.

We have loved this attraction for years, and there is something especially nostalgic about seeing it return each Halloween season. It is beautifully done and absolutely worth experiencing.

It can also have a significant wait, so keep that in mind when planning your day. If you have Lightning Lane available and Haunted Mansion Holiday is a priority, this is an attraction where saving some time can make sense. If you’re using standby, remember that much of the queue is outside, so sunscreen and water are your friends if the weather is warm.

Jack and Sally Are Worth the Wait

If you’re a Nightmare Before Christmas fan, make time for Jack and Sally in New Orleans Square near the Pieces of Eight shop.

The line can be long, but this is one of our 10 out of 10 character experiences. The setting, the characters and the Halloween atmosphere make it one we would happily put on the priority list.

The key is simply knowing what you’re getting into. If you want the photo, allow the time.

Don’t Forget the Halloween Treats

One of the best parts of Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026 is that the seasonal treats seem to be everywhere. Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe is one of our favorite stops, with Halloween desserts that look almost too good to eat, but you’ll also find special treats and drinks at snack stands, quick service locations and other spots throughout the parks and resort. Disney even has a dedicated Halloween Foodie Guide because there is so much seasonal food to track down.

There is one important tip, though: if there is a specific treat you really want, order it early. Some of the most popular seasonal items can disappear later in the day, and mobile ordering can fill up for popular locations and time slots. We recommend checking the Disneyland app early, especially if you have your heart set on something specific. Disney’s mobile ordering lets you select an available arrival time in advance, which can save you a lot of time once you’re in the park.

The good news is that you don’t have to plan your entire day around Halloween snacks. Keep an eye out as you’re walking through the parks because seasonal treats pop up in places you might not expect. And if you see something you absolutely want to try, don’t assume it will still be there at the end of the day. Disney treats have a way of disappearing when you aren’t looking.

Here is what we found from the Holly Holiday Bakery! Word of warning though, mobile order as early as you can as times can be pushed to later in the day or things can sell out. So how do they taste? That’s up to you to find out!

Halloween Merchandise Makes the Season Even Better

You can’t walk through Disneyland during Halloween Time at Disneyland without noticing the merchandise. With pumpkins covering Main Street, seasonal treats in nearly every corner and families walking around in festive Disney shirts, ears and accessories, the merchandise becomes part of the whole Halloween experience. There are cute pumpkin designs everywhere, along with Mickey Mouse and friends, fall colors and plenty of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The 25th anniversary of Haunted Mansion Holiday makes this year’s merchandise especially fun. Seeing the anniversary apparel, collectibles and Haunted Mansion designs throughout the parks adds another layer to the season, especially if you’re a fan of the attraction. You’ll find Halloween merchandise at places like World of Disney, Emporium, Disney Showcase, Elias & Co. and other select shops throughout the Disneyland Resort.

There is also plenty of The Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise, along with fall themed Disney apparel and accessories. The fun part is seeing it all come together around you. Someone is wearing a pumpkin sweatshirt, another family has Halloween ears, you’re carrying a seasonal treat, and then you turn the corner and see another display of merchandise you didn’t know you needed. Add hundreds of pumpkins to Main Street and the whole park feels completely dressed for the season.

If you’re visiting Halloween Time at Disneyland, give yourself some time to browse. Even if you aren’t planning to buy anything, the seasonal merchandise is part of what makes Disneyland feel so festive this time of year.

What About Oogie Boogie Bash?

This guide is about Halloween Time at Disneyland and what you can experience during a regular Disneyland day. But what about Oogie Boogie Bash? It’s not in Disneyland. But is at Disney’s California Adventure. If you’re not attending Oogie Boogie Bash this year, you are not missing Halloween at Disneyland.

Oogie Boogie Bash is a separate, specially ticketed Halloween party at Disney California Adventure, and we’ve experienced it ourselves. We also have a complete guide dedicated to that event.

One thing we do recommend watching is the crowd pattern on Oogie Boogie Bash nights. As the evening gets closer, Disney California Adventure begins clearing for the party, and Disneyland can become noticeably busier, especially around 6:30 or 7 p.m. It’s something to keep in mind when planning your evening.

Don’t Forget Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian

Halloween doesn’t stop at the Disneyland Park entrance.

If you’re already walking through Downtown Disney, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a fun seasonal scavenger hunt that extends across the Disneyland Resort. You can purchase a map and stickers for $11.99 plus tax, search for the hidden character pumpkins and redeem the map for a keepsake.

And even if you don’t want to turn your day into a scavenger hunt, Downtown Disney is an easy place to explore for shopping and dining.

The Grand Californian is another stop we’d make time for. During Halloween, the hotel has seasonal treats, including its popular gingerbread cookie, but the real showstopper is the incredible Nightmare Before Christmas display created entirely from sugar.

We saw early pictures of it being created, and seeing the finished display is something else. The detail is unbelievable, and if you want to experience the fall atmosphere beyond the theme parks, this is absolutely worth a visit.

A Haunted Mansion Collectible for Your Radar

Now for that collectible we promised.

At Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, look for the special Walt’s Place Glass, created for the 25th anniversary of Haunted Mansion Holiday. During our visit, the limited edition plastic cup was available for $10.95 with the purchase of a Dole Whip.

If you’re a Haunted Mansion collector, this is one we’d look for early in the trip. It’s tied directly to the attraction’s 25th anniversary, which makes it much more interesting than a typical seasonal souvenir.

And honestly, this is exactly the kind of Disneyland find we love bringing home.

Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour

For an extra special Halloween experience, Disneyland also offers Disney’s Happiest Haunts Guided Tour. The two hour tour combines Halloween history and Disney stories with Lightning Lane entry to Haunted Mansion Holiday, reserved viewing for Halloween Screams, a themed treat and a commemorative key.

The current price is $130 per person, plus tax, and you’ll still need valid park admission and a park reservation. For Disney fans who love history and want someone else to handle the Halloween details, it’s an interesting splurge.

Our Tips for Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026

The biggest thing we learned from opening day is that Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026 is best enjoyed when you give yourself room to experience it. The character lines may be long, Haunted Mansion Holiday can get busy and popular entertainment requires some planning, but none of that means you should rush through the day.

Check the Disneyland app for entertainment times, especially for the Halloween cavalcade and Halloween Screams. Give yourself extra time for the experiences that matter most to your family, and don’t forget that some of the best seasonal finds are outside the park itself.

If you have time, wander through Downtown Disney, stop at the Grand Californian and look around. You never know what you’ll find.
