We have taken our kids to this pool since they were tiny, and they have continued to enjoy it as they have gotten older. So the question is not simply whether the pool is good. The real question is whether it is worth choosing Disney’s Beach Club Resort because of it. We will get to that.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort Has More Than a Pool
One of the biggest reasons we like Disney’s Beach Club Resort is that you do not have to choose between a great resort and convenient access to the parks. The resort sits along Crescent Lake, within walking distance of EPCOT and close to Disney’s BoardWalk. You can also use the Friendship boats and the Disney Skyliner, which gives you several ways to get around without spending the entire day on a bus.
That matters if you are not interested in spending every minute of your vacation in a park. We would much rather spend part of the day at EPCOT, head back to the resort for a swim and a break, and then decide what sounds good later. Disney’s Beach Club Resort makes that kind of vacation much easier.
Disney’s Beach Club Pool Is Not Just a Pool
The centerpiece of Disney’s Beach Club Resort is Stormalong Bay, a three acre pool area shared with Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. With nearly 800,000 gallons of water, it feels much more like a small water recreation area than a traditional hotel pool.
There is a lazy river, a large sandy bottom area, whirlpools, a children’s area and the Shipwreck waterslide. You can spend an hour there or most of the day without feeling like you are doing the same thing over and over. There are also places to grab food and drinks, which makes it much easier to settle in and stay awhile.
So….What Is Stormalong Bay?
Stormalong Bay is simply the name of the main pool complex at Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. If you search for the best Disney World pools, you will often see it mentioned, even though someone searching for Disney’s Beach Club Pool may not realize the two names refer to the same place.
The size is part of what makes it different, but the variety is what makes it useful for a family. One person can float in the lazy river while someone else takes the waterslide and another person stays in the shallow area. That flexibility is one reason our family has kept coming back.
There Is Something Here for Almost Every Age
One thing we have noticed over the years is that our kids have enjoyed the pool differently as they have grown. When they were little, the shallow areas and sand were the attraction. Now that they are older, they are more interested in the slide, the lazy river and exploring the larger pool area. The resort has grown with them instead of becoming a place they outgrew.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort Pool for Toddlers and Little Kids
For younger children, the shallow beach area is one of the biggest draws. The sandy section gives little swimmers somewhere to play without immediately putting them into deeper water, and the children’s area provides another place for smaller kids to splash.
When our kids were tiny, we spent plenty of time sitting in the sand while they played. At one point, we even had the classic Disney vacation moment of burying their legs in the sand so they could pretend they had mermaid tails. Those little moments are part of why we think the pool works so well for families with young children.
Disney’s Beach Club Pool for Older Kids
Older kids have plenty to keep them busy too. The Shipwreck waterslide is a major attraction, while the lazy river gives them somewhere to relax when they are finished with the slide.
As our kids have gotten older, the pool has become less about keeping them entertained and more about letting them choose what they want to do. That is a nice change for parents too. You can actually sit down while the kids move between different parts of the pool.
And Yes, Adults Can Relax Here
Stormalong Bay can be active, but you are not required to spend your entire pool day in the busiest areas. There are quieter places to sit, whirlpools for relaxing and separate pools around the resort for anyone who wants something more peaceful.
That balance is important. Disney’s Beach Club Resort can work for a family with children while still giving adults a chance to slow down.
What If You Do Not Want the Big Pool?
Stormalong Bay gets most of the attention, but it is not the only pool available around the resort. If you want a quieter afternoon, there are several other options.
Tidal Pool
The Tidal Pool is the leisure pool at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. It is much quieter than Stormalong Bay and offers views toward Crescent Lake. There is also a whirlpool, making it a good choice when you want to swim without the activity of the main pool.
Admiral Pool
Across at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, the Admiral Pool offers another quieter option. It has its own pool area and whirlpool, so you can still enjoy the resort atmosphere without spending your afternoon at Stormalong Bay.
Dunes Cove Pool
Dunes Cove Pool is located at Disney’s Beach Club Villas and is another option when you want a more relaxed setting. This one has become our family’s favorite when we want a quieter pool day. It does not have the elaborate features of Stormalong Bay, but that is exactly why we like it.
Why Disney’s Beach Club Resort Works for a Relaxed Disney Vacation
Disney vacations do not have to mean leaving the resort before breakfast and returning after the fireworks every night. In fact, one of the reasons we like Disney’s Beach Club Resort is that it makes slowing down feel like a legitimate part of the trip.
We might spend the morning at a park, return to the resort for the pool, grab something to eat and then decide whether we want to go back out. Sometimes we float the lazy river. Sometimes we sit by the pool. Sometimes we head back to EPCOT for dinner. The point is that we do not have to build the entire day around transportation and park hours.
Tips to Maximize Your Disney Beach Club Pool Day
- Grab your chair early! Summer is busy, and prime spots go fast.
- Snack attack: Poolside chicken fingers, burgers, or a cold drink from a Disney Cast Member walking around while taking your order to keep everyone fueled.
- Fireworks magic: Swim while EPCOT’s 9 PM fireworks light up the sky, pool usually open until 10 PM (always double-check hours before you go).
- Shower & refresh: Full bathrooms and showers let you hop back into the parks without running to your room.
- Plan ahead: WARNING! The pool closes for refurbishments several months a year (Disney will let you know when booking), and weather may temporarily shut it down.
Whether floating the lazy river, playing volleyball, or letting little ones dig in the sand, the Disney Beach Club pool has something for everyone.

Location is one of the strongest reasons to consider Disney’s Beach Club Resort, especially if EPCOT is a major part of your vacation.
Walk to EPCOT Through International Gateway
The walking path to EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance is one of the biggest advantages of staying here. Instead of waiting for a bus, you can walk from the resort directly toward the back entrance of EPCOT.
That can make a significant difference during a trip. You can spend the morning at the pool, walk over to EPCOT for dinner, enjoy a few attractions and return to the resort without having to coordinate another form of transportation. During EPCOT festivals, the location becomes even more convenient because you can easily come and go without committing to an entire park day.
And You Can Take the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Beach Club Resort also gives you easy access to the Disney Skyliner. From the nearby station, you can travel toward Hollywood Studios or EPCOT without taking a bus.
We especially like this when we are not trying to spend an entire day at Hollywood Studios. We can head over for a few attractions, enjoy the atmosphere and then return to the resort for the pool. Weather can affect Skyliner operations, so it is always worth checking current transportation conditions before relying on it.
Is Disney’s Beach Club Resort Worth It If You Love Disney Pools?
This is where the answer becomes more personal. If a pool is simply something you use for an hour between park days, there are plenty of Disney resorts with good pools. You do not need Disney’s Beach Club Resort to have a great Disney vacation.
But if you actually want to spend time at your resort, the equation changes. The pool becomes part of what you are paying for, along with the location, transportation options and ability to walk to EPCOT. For families who value downtime, those things can make a resort feel much more useful.

The resort gives us options instead of forcing us into a single pace.
We have taken our kids to this pool since they were very little, and they still enjoy it now. That matters more to us than any list of features or resort ranking. A resort can have a beautiful pool, but the real test is whether your family actually wants to spend time there.
