Hey Dreamers! We love finding Disney merchandise that makes us stop scrolling, and this Cinderella Castle Tree Topper from Hallmark did exactly that.
For starters, it puts the most recognizable landmark in Magic Kingdom at the top of your Christmas tree, but there’s much more to this 10.75 inch piece than its beautiful castle design. With lights, music, fireworks sounds, and a remote controlled show, it might be one of the most fun Disney Christmas decorations we’ve brought home.
And after seeing it in action, we have a few things you should know before you start hunting one down for your own tree.
The Cinderella Castle Tree Topper Is SUPER Hard to Find
Hallmark currently lists the topper as sold out online, although there is still a way to find it for retail over secondary markets. Seriously.
Unfortunately, it’s all over social media. And that might be the problem. Word got out so fast that stock just can’t keep up.
But there is a way to get one for yourself. And it is NOT always the secondary market.
On the secondary market, we’ve seen listings around $600 – $1,200, which is a huge jump from the original $199.99 price.
Word of warning though, if you’ve been wanting one, we would start looking sooner rather than later rather than waiting until the holiday season is in full swing.
What Makes It Special?
The almost 11 inch tall Cinderella Castle has continuous ambient lighting, but the remote control is what really makes this piece stand out.
It includes three synchronized light and sound performances inspired by Walt Disney World:
- “When You Wish Upon a Star” with Walt Disney dialogue and fireworks sounds
- “Electrical Parade” music
- “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”
The first time we heard it in action, we got goosebumps. And we’re not kidding!
If you’ve ever experienced the Electrical Water Pageant around Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake, you know how strongly Disney’s nighttime music can bring back memories. The topper does not recreate the Electrical Water Pageant itself, but hearing Disney parade music coming from Cinderella Castle has that same nostalgic effect.
That’s what makes this more than a traditional tree topper. It brings a little piece of the Disney experience into your home.
What’s Included?
The box includes the following:
- Cinderella Castle Tree Topper
- Tinker Bell
- power adapter
- remote control with batteries included
- tree topper mount
- support rod
- hook and loop fastener.
Tinker Bell is packaged separately and attaches to the castle during setup so she does not break in transit.
The support system helps secure the topper to your tree, and once everything is connected, the remote lets you control the lighting and performances.
Our One Complaint (if we had one)
If there was anything to say, it would be that the front of the castle looks a little plain when you’re standing close to it. Plus the back is a bit odd but who see’s that side anyway? Oh and the time on Cinderella’s Clock? This seems to be a missed opportunity in storytelling! Or perhaps the realistic time of 10pm to watch the fireworks.
For a $199.99 piece, we expected a little more detail.
But this is a tree topper, not a display piece sitting at eye level. Once it’s on top of the tree, surrounded by branches and lights, that becomes much less noticeable. From across the room, especially when the castle is illuminated, it looks beautiful.
Is It Worth $199.99?
For us, yes. This is definitely a splurge, but the combination of the castle, lighting, music, fireworks sounds, and remote-controlled performances makes it feel like more than a decoration.
Hallmark’s current reviews are also very positive, with a 4.7 out of 5 average rating. Reviewers praise the lights, music, and nostalgia, while some feel the price is high. We think both reactions are fair.
At $199.99, we think it’s worth it for someone who really loves Disney and plans to use it for years.
At $600 or more off the secondary market? We’d have to pass.
HUGE TIP: If You Get One, Grab an Extra Remote
This is one thing we would do while they’re still available. Hallmark sells a replacement remote specifically for this Cinderella Castle Tree Topper. At the time of publication, the replacement remote appears to be readily available, even though the topper itself is sold out online.
If you purchase the topper, we’d consider grabbing an extra remote or two before those sell out as well. Between pets and kids, it’s an inexpensive way to protect a $200 investment, especially if you plan to use the topper for many Christmases. One major detail to point out…. you need the remote to operate the fireworks.
How to Find the Cinderella Castle Tree Topper
Ok, let’s get down to business.
Here’s how to grab one… start with Hallmark’s official listing, then if still “sold out”, call your local Hallmark store and ask specifically for the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Cinderella Castle Tree Topper With Light and Sound. If they don’t have it, ask whether they expect another shipment or can put you on a waiting list. Typically the stores will get it first over the online Hallmark listing. This is exactly how we got our hands on one for ourselves at at retail price!
If you find one at retail, you’re getting the same piece we’ve been enjoying at home without paying hundreds of dollars more just because it is difficult to find online.
Our Verdict
The Cinderella Castle Tree Topper isn’t perfect, and $199.99 is a lot for a Christmas decoration. But we think the lights, music, fireworks sounds, and Cinderella Castle design make this one special. And super special!
When the castle lights up and “When You Wish Upon a Star” starts playing, it really does bring back that feeling of being at Walt Disney World.
That’s why we’re glad we found ours. If you’ve been looking for one, make the phone calls before giving in to those $600 listings. You might get lucky at your local Hallmark store.
