Hey Dreamers…If you’ve ever ridden Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland and wondered what it would be like to actually sit inside that peaceful little bayou, that’s exactly what you get to do at Blue Bayou Disneyland. My family and I ate here in September 2026, and after years of visiting this restaurant, I still think this is one of those experiences worth trying at least once. The food? I’ll be honest about that. The experience? That’s where this restaurant really shines.
Blue Bayou Disneyland is one of the most recognizable restaurants in Disneyland, and it’s also one of the more difficult reservations to grab. But before you spend your day refreshing the Disneyland app, let’s talk about what you’re actually getting for your money, what we ate, where you should ask to sit and whether this restaurant deserves a spot in your Disneyland day.

Where Is Blue Bayou Disneyland?
Blue Bayou Disneyland is located in New Orleans Square, inside the same building as Pirates of the Caribbean. That’s not just a fun bit of trivia. The restaurant and attraction were designed to work together as part of the same story.
While you’re eating, boats slowly float past your table as you’re surrounded by the sounds of a Louisiana night, glowing lanterns, water, Spanish moss and the feeling that you’ve somehow stepped outside Disneyland and into an old Southern bayou.
It’s one of those places where you really need to look around. Blue Bayou isn’t simply a restaurant with a lot of theming stuck onto it. The environment is the experience, and once you understand how the restaurant connects to Pirates of the Caribbean, it becomes even more interesting.

The Story Behind the Blue Bayou
The idea behind Blue Bayou Disneyland was to recreate the feeling of an old Louisiana bayou at night, drawing inspiration from New Orleans, the Mississippi Delta and the romanticized Southern landscapes that helped shape the atmosphere of New Orleans Square. But the real fun is in understanding how the restaurant connects to the attraction beside it.
When you board Pirates of the Caribbean, your journey doesn’t immediately begin with pirates. You first drift through the quiet Blue Bayou, surrounded by nighttime sounds and the soft glow of the moon. Then you plunge down the waterfall and travel back in time to the age of pirates. That transition is one of my favorite pieces of Disneyland storytelling because the peaceful world you’re leaving behind makes the pirate adventure feel even more dramatic.
So when you’re sitting at Blue Bayou and watching a Pirates boat float past, you’re actually watching the beginning of the story happen right in front of you. As someone who loves Disney history, that’s the kind of detail that makes me appreciate this restaurant even more.

Don’t Forget to Look Up for Club 33
While you’re enjoying Blue Bayou Disneyland, take a look around New Orleans Square, and especially look up. Club 33 is tucked into the second-story architecture above the area. The private club opened in 1967 and was originally envisioned by Walt Disney as a place where he could entertain special guests, business associates and dignitaries inside Disneyland.
No, you can’t simply wander upstairs and take a look inside. Club 33 is private, but knowing that it’s right there adds another little layer to the experience. Look at the windows, balconies and architecture around you. New Orleans Square is one of those areas where Disneyland rewards you for slowing down and actually paying attention, and if you’re a Disney history fan like me, you’ll probably find yourself looking around more than you expected.

How to Nail a Blue Bayou Reservation
Getting Blue Bayou Disneyland reservations can be tricky, especially if you have a specific date and time in mind. But don’t look at the reservation calendar once, see nothing and give up. Keep checking the Disneyland app because people change their plans all the time, and when someone cancels, that reservation can become available again.
I’ve personally had good luck finding Blue Bayou reservations by checking repeatedly, and it’s one of the first things I’d recommend if you’ve always wanted to try the restaurant. You can also check for walk-up availability when you’re in Disneyland. It isn’t guaranteed, but if you’re already in New Orleans Square and really want to eat at Blue Bayou, it never hurts to ask.
And don’t feel obligated to keep a reservation simply because you finally got one. If you look at the menu, consider the price and decide you’d rather spend that money somewhere else, cancel according to the current cancellation policy and move on. Disneyland has plenty of other dining options, and this restaurant isn’t for everyone.

Want to Sit by the Water? Ask.
This is probably my biggest Blue Bayou Disneyland tip: if sitting beside the water matters to you, ask when you arrive. The tables directly along the bayou are limited, and naturally, they’re popular. You can request one, but be prepared to wait longer. We’ve sat right beside the water before, and it really is beautiful. You get the full view of the boats drifting past, and the atmosphere is about as good as it gets.
We’ve also sat near the restrooms, and let’s just say there’s a difference. Not every table gives you the same view or the same experience. You might get a wonderful water table, you might get tucked farther back, or you might find yourself near an area where servers are moving in and out. That’s simply part of the gamble with this restaurant.
If you want the water, ask. Just understand that you may have to wait longer, even with a reservation. I’d rather you know that before arriving than spend your meal wondering why your table doesn’t look anything like the pictures you’ve seen online.
Blue Bayou Disneyland Menu: What We Ate
Now let’s talk about the food, because this is where I’m going to be completely honest. The Blue Bayou Disneyland menu is more elevated than the quick-service food you’ll find throughout Disneyland, but I don’t think the food itself is what makes this restaurant worth the price. Pictured below is the Dinner Menu.

During our September 2026 visit, the Lunch menu included dishes such as gumbo, a French Quarter salad, market fish, filet mignon, Le Coeur chicken and other seasonal offerings. There were also several desserts and adult beverages. The menu doesn’t have an enormous number of choices, so don’t expect pages and pages of options, and remember that menu items can change.

One of the things we really enjoyed on the lunch menu was the garlic cheese dip with sourdough boule. If you love garlic, pay attention to this one. The garlic flavor was intense, the sourdough was excellent and it disappeared pretty quickly from our table. It was one of those appetizers that everyone kept going back to, which is usually a pretty good sign.
For my entrée, I ordered the Monte Cristo, which is probably the one dish I associate most with Blue Bayou after all these years. The Monte Cristo is adapted from the French croque monsieur and combines turkey, ham and Swiss cheese in a battered and fried sandwich served with powdered sugar and seasonal preserves. It’s also available at Café Orleans (confirmed it’s the same version), so if you’re simply craving a Monte Cristo, you don’t need to make a Blue Bayou Disneyland reservation to get one.
In fact, that’s one of the things I like about Disneyland dining. You can get a similar Monte Cristo at Café Orleans for less money, while Blue Bayou gives you the full atmosphere. If the sandwich is the reason you’re making the reservation, I’d save yourself the trouble and consider Café Orleans instead. If the restaurant experience is what you’re after, that’s where Blue Bayou earns its place.
The Blue Bayou’s kids’ menu is pretty straightforward, too, with options such as chicken strips, shrimp and pasta. There’s nothing particularly incredible here, but most kids aren’t sitting down at Blue Bayou expecting a culinary adventure.
Blue Bayou Disneyland Price: What Should You Budget?
Let’s talk money, because this is probably where many families will have the biggest question. Blue Bayou Disneyland is not a cheap Disneyland meal. As of our September 2026 visit, adult lunch entrées could reach up to $61, while the Taste of the Bayou option was $89 and included an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Prices and menu items can change, so always check the current Disneyland menu before your visit.
And here’s where I think you need to decide what you’re actually paying for. If you’re comparing the cost of a Blue Bayou entrée to a quick-service meal, it’s expensive. There’s no getting around that. But you’re also not getting a quick-service experience. You’re getting a full-service meal in one of Disneyland’s most immersive settings, sitting beside Pirates of the Caribbean while boats float past your table.
For some families, that’s worth it. For others, it won’t be, and both are completely reasonable. I don’t think you should book this restaurant because you feel like you’re supposed to. Book it because the experience sounds like something you and your family would enjoy.

Why I Like Blue Bayou as a Family Break
This is probably the biggest reason I continue to enjoy Blue Bayou Disneyland. My family can move. We can spend hours running from attraction to attraction, grabbing quick-service food whenever we’re hungry and realizing several hours later that nobody has actually sat down.
You absolutely do not need a sit-down meal at Disneyland. You can have an incredible day without one, and depending on how your family likes to tour the park, quick service may be exactly what works best. But I like having a break built into our day, especially when it’s hot.
Blue Bayou gives us that opportunity. We sit down, eat a full meal, cool off and actually spend some time together without rushing off to the next attraction. Café Orleans can give us a similar pause, but Blue Bayou feels more immersive because the entire environment surrounds you. After several hours of walking around Disneyland, sometimes sitting beside the water and watching a Pirates boat drift by is exactly what everyone needs.
Is Blue Bayou Disneyland Worth It?
This is probably the question you’re really asking, and my answer is that it depends entirely on what you’re looking for. If you’re expecting a fine-dining experience where every bite is going to justify the price, I think your expectations are too high. The food is good, but I wouldn’t call it extraordinary, and I don’t think the menu alone makes the restaurant worth the cost.
If you’re looking for one of the most unique dining experiences inside Disneyland, that’s a different story. My Blue Bayou Disneyland review is a 10 out of 10 for the experience and more like a 6 to 7 out of 10 for the food, depending on what you order. I don’t go because I think it’s the best restaurant in Disneyland. I go because I love the setting, I love the history and I love the connection to Pirates of the Caribbean.
If you’ve never been, I think it’s worth trying once. If you’re looking at the menu and thinking, “That’s way too much money for that food,” then don’t book it. You aren’t missing out on some secret culinary masterpiece. But if you’ve always wanted to sit inside that famous Disneyland bayou, this is your chance to experience it.
Our Blue Bayou Disneyland Tips
If you’re trying to get a reservation, keep checking the Disneyland app, even if you don’t see availability at first. Cancellations happen, and a reservation that wasn’t available yesterday might suddenly be sitting there today. If you can’t find one, ask about walk-up availability when you’re in the park. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s worth checking.
If you care about the view, request a water table when you arrive and be prepared to wait. Those tables are limited, and getting one isn’t guaranteed. If you’re willing to wait, though, I think it’s worth asking because sitting beside the water really does add to the experience.
Give yourself plenty of time for the meal, too. This isn’t somewhere I’d schedule if you’re trying to race from one attraction to another. Part of the appeal is sitting down and enjoying the environment. Watch the Pirates boats, listen to the sounds around you and take a minute to look at the details of New Orleans Square.
Most importantly, go in knowing what you’re paying for. If you’re expecting a $60 entrée to taste like a $60 fine-dining entrée, you may walk away disappointed. If you understand that you’re paying for a unique Disneyland experience with a full-service meal attached to it, you’ll have a much better idea of what to expect.

Our Honest Blue Bayou Disneyland Review
Ok Dreamers, after our September 2026 visit, my biggest takeaway is the same one I’ve had for years: I love Blue Bayou Disneyland for the experience, not because I think the food is spectacular. The ambiance is incredible, sitting beside the water while Pirates boats drift past is something you simply can’t replicate anywhere else in Disneyland, and there’s something special about spending time in a restaurant that’s been part of the park’s story for generations.
The food is good. The price is high. The reservations can be frustrating. Your table may be wonderful, or you may end up near the restroom. But when everything comes together, when you’re sitting beside the water, the lanterns are glowing, the crickets are chirping and a Pirates boat quietly floats past… you remember why this restaurant has been so popular for so many years.
That’s Blue Bayou. And that’s why I’d tell anyone who’s never experienced it to give it a try at least once. Just go in knowing exactly what you’re paying for. You’re not simply paying for dinner. You’re paying to sit inside the story.
Prices and menu items are based on our September 2026 visit and are subject to change. Check Disneyland’s current menu and dining information before your visit.
