The Disneyland Hotel 2026 Review That WILL Surprise You

The Disneyland Hotel 2026 Review That WILL Surprise You

Hey Dreamers! If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into a living postcard of Disneyland history, then the Disneyland Hotel is one to talk about. We recently stayed here (February 2026) and again late last year and this place hits nostalgia straight in the feels.

The Disneyland Hotel has a rich history, opening just three months after Disneyland in 1955 as the very first hotel to officially carry the Disney name. The hotel has been rebuilt, expanded, and updated multiple times over the decades, evolving from its classic motor inn beginnings into the modern resort we know today.

The original buildings may be gone, but the spirit of Disneyland’s past lives on in the Adventure, Fantasy, and Frontier Towers, the newly opened Villas, and all the thoughtfully updated pools, dining spots, and rooms.

Staying here means stepping into a piece of Disney history while enjoying all the comforts of a fully modern resort.

Disneyland Hotel View

From glowing fountains under the night sky to the whimsical towers that echo the classic lands of Disneyland, staying here isn’t just a hotel visit, it’s a love letter to childhood memories. So, the hint here is, it’s perfect for the kiddos!

Whether you’re traveling with kids, teens, or are just big kids at heart, the Disneyland Hotel delivers the perfect mix of Disney history, modern luxury (yes it’s been updated over the years), and sheer whimsy.

And bonus, being just steps from the Downtown Disney District makes hopping over to Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park incredibly convenient. Yes. We will say it again. SO convenient!

Towers, Villas, and Suites

Choosing a room here is like picking your own adventure. Are you an Adventure, Fantasy, or Frontier Tower fan? But you can honestly only request your tower as there will be no guarantees.

In fact, we paid for a premium view on our last trip and when we arrived, we were disappointed as we could see all of Anaheim. The hotel was at 100% capacity, but we got lucky as they were able to switch our room to that premium view since we called as soon as we checked in.

But the towers are cool to look at from wherever you are at the Disneyland Hotel. Each tower honors one of the park’s original lands with subtle theming and a nod to Disney history.

The Frontier Tower (once the Bonita Tower!) still lights up our childhood memories, thanks to those glowing fountains below at night. Us Dreamers stayed in this tower (then the Bonita Tower) many times growing up.

The Adventure and Fantasy towers mix sleek modern design with nostalgic touches, giving you the best of both worlds. In loving Adventureland, this one might be our favorite tower of them all now.

If you want more home-like comfort, the Disney Vacation Club Discovery Tower villas are perfect. Kitchens, private bedrooms, and even washers and dryers make longer stays a breeze. As you can see, this is where we stayed. More on how we did in a bit.

For those seeking a little extra, Club-Level access at the High Key Club lets you catch the Disneyland Park fireworks while listening to a synchronized live soundtrack, without ever leaving your comfy lounge chair (and we are huge fans of watching fireworks from outside the parks).

Rooms at the Disneyland Hotel are a mix of sophistication and whimsy. From light-up Sleeping Beauty Castle headboards to classic Disney artwork and state-of-the-art amenities, you’ll find that this hotel is as much an experience as it is a place to sleep.

And trust us, these details make it a stay your whole family will treasure for years. Plus the view!

Pools, Slides, and the Perfect Splash

One thing Disney knows how to do? Make a splash. And at the Disneyland Hotel, they’ve mastered it.

Whether you’re zooming down the towering monorail waterslides, splashing in the Steamboat Willie pad at the Villas pool, or lounging by the E-Ticket and D-Ticket pools, there’s something for every type of water lover.

Private poolside cabanas (available for an extra fee) let you soak up the sun in style while enjoying drinks and snacks delivered right to your chair.

Dining That Hits All the Sweet Spots

The Disneyland Hotel has plenty of food options. For the basic starter, head to The Coffee House with muffins, bagels, yogurt, and coffee before heading into the parks.

For a much better tropical twist, Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill delivers Polynesian-inspired flavors alongside lively music and tiki torches. Seriously, one of our absolute favs!

Not to mention, the famous Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, inspired by the Jungle Cruise, is a must do, if you can get into the restaurant. Although the food wasn’t the best, the experience is 100% worth it. Be sure to double check the My Disney Experience Disneyland app, as the restaurant is currently closed for recruitment. Word on the street is that no reservations are being taken right now, so it’s always worth popping in when it reopens to see if you can snag a spot!

If you are into character breakfasts (we are not), there is an the all-you-care-to-eat fun at the super famous Goofy’s Kitchen.

There is also the Broken Spell Lounge and Palm Breeze Bar at the Villas offer cozy spots surrounded by Disney art and whimsical décor. Insider tip: grab a drink at the lounge when fireworks are scheduled as you can catch a private view and enjoy the synchronized soundtrack without the park crowds.

Or grab a seat at the outdoor firepit complete with tiki lighting after grabbing a drink from Trader Sam’s!

Nearby, Downtown Disney adds even more options, and honestly, this is our go-to for dinner.

Disney Vacation Club Notes and Booking Tips

As Disney Vacation Club members, we know firsthand that the Disneyland Hotel can be tough to book with points due to popularity (if you do not own at this resort).

And yes, the nightly tax on point bookings is no joke. We often opt to use our points at Disney World Resort and pay out-of-pocket here, which means we have to cover laundry fees, but it’s worth the experience. To note, we have Disney Vacation Club ownership at Disney World Resort Hotels and the Grand Californian (note that this one must be booked as soon as the window opens or it fills up).

Tip for Dreamers: Book as early as possible, check the Disneyland app for hotel availability, and consider off-peak dates if your schedule allows. Even a weekday stay during school breaks can make a difference in both cost and crowd levels.

The Bottom Line

So, did we love it? Absolutely. And if you have kiddos, even better. The Disneyland Hotel isn’t just a hotel, it’s a portal to Disneyland past and present.

It’s a short 10-minute stroll to the parks, rooms book fast, and the price tag can feel high, but for Disney history buffs, families, and anyone wanting a full-on immersive experience, it’s worth it.\

For families looking for a slightly more budget-friendly option, Disney’s Pixar Place offers playful hallways, immersive artwork, and a kid-friendly vibe, but if you want nostalgia, grandeur, and history, the Disneyland Hotel takes the crown.
