Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026

FIRST LOOK: Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026 Is Here, and We’re Going Behind the Scenes

Hey Dreamers! Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026 officially begins this Friday, August 21, and we’re going to be there for opening day. We’ve experienced Halloween at Disneyland many times over the years, but that’s what makes this year especially fun. We know what we’re looking for, and we’re heading into the 2026 season ready to see what’s new, what’s worth your time and what you may want to add to your own Disneyland vacation.

This time, we’re experiencing opening day with our Magic Mornings Vacations team. We’ll be exploring the Disneyland Resort together, meeting all the characters all dressed up in a special meet & greet, trying out all new Halloween offerings (and we mean all), checking out all the seasonal food and new merchandise, visiting the resorts and experiencing some of the biggest Halloween attractions and entertainment (not to mention a team ride though on Haunted Mansion Holiday).

We’re there to have fun, but we’re also looking at everything through a travel planner’s eyes so we can bring you the details that actually matter. Not to mention, we are filming everything as a team, plus taking team photos!

Why We’re Going on Opening Day

Disneyland doesn’t simply repeat the exact same Halloween every year. There are new decorations, new merchandise, new food, new character costumes and new details to discover. Even when we’ve experienced Halloween Time before, there’s always something that gives us a reason to look again.

Halloween Time at Disneyland runs from August 21 through October 31, 2026, bringing seasonal entertainment, decorations, food, merchandise and Halloween experiences throughout the Disneyland Resort.

We’re going on opening day because we want to see the 2026 version for ourselves while everything is brand new.

And as Disney travel planners, we don’t want to simply tell you what Disney has announced. We want to experience these things firsthand so we can help you decide what’s worth making time for during your vacation.

What Does a Disney Travel Planner Actually Do?

A Disney travel planner does more than book a hotel and tickets.

Disney is constantly changing. Attractions change, restaurants change, seasonal events return with new details, merchandise comes and goes and entertainment can change from one season to the next. That’s why we believe a good Disney travel planner should keep experiencing Disney.

When we’re at Disneyland, we’re asking the same questions we would ask when helping a family plan a vacation. Is something worth the time? Is it worth the money? Who would love it? Who could skip it? And if someone only has one or two days at Disneyland, where should they spend that valuable park time?

Those questions will be in the back of our minds all day Friday.

Of course we’re going to have fun. That’s a given. But we’re also doing our homework.

First Look at Disneyland’s Halloween Characters

One of our first stops will be seeing Mickey, Minnie and friends dressed for the Halloween season. Disney is promoting this year’s character offerings as “Characters Dressed for the Howl-iday,” with Mickey, Minnie and friends decked out in festive Halloween attire.

We’re excited to see the costumes and photo opportunities in person and find out how these experiences fit into a real Disneyland day. If you’re traveling with children who want to meet the Halloween characters, that information matters. And if you have limited park time, you’ll want to know whether we’d recommend making room for it.

Halloween Decorations Across the Resort

Halloween Time doesn’t stop at the theme park gates. The decorations stretch throughout the Disneyland Resort, including the hotels and Downtown Disney.

Our team will be checking out the Halloween displays at the Disneyland Resort hotels, including Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, Pixar Place and Disneyland Hotel (my personal favorite).

We’re also especially excited to get a first look at the new Monsters, Inc. themed décor at Pixar Place Hotel.

We’ll be looking at it from a travel planner’s perspective, too. If you’re not staying at Pixar Place Hotel, is it worth making a special stop to see the decorations? That’s the kind of detail we want to help you figure out.

We’re Staying at the Grand Californian

For this trip, our One Man’s Dreamers team will be staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa with a Downtown Disney view, and we’re definitely looking forward to it.

But we’ll also be paying attention to the things that matter when choosing a Disneyland hotel or staying at a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel. Your budget, family, schedule and how important location is to you can all change which resort makes the most sense.

There isn’t one Disneyland hotel that’s perfect for everyone. While we’re enjoying the Grand Californian, we’ll be looking at the details that could help you decide whether it’s right for your own vacation.

The Main Street Pumpkin Festival

Once we’re in Disneyland, the Main Street Pumpkin Festival will be one of our first stops and is seriously our favorite part about Halloween Time at Disneyland.

If you’ve experienced Halloween Time before, you know how quickly Main Street, U.S.A. can change the feeling of the entire park. The pumpkins and seasonal decorations immediately let you know that Halloween has arrived.

We’ve seen it before, but we’ll still be looking closely this year. When you’ve visited Disney many times, you start noticing details you might have missed before. And when you’re helping other people plan their vacations, you start looking at those details a little differently.

We’re not just asking, “Isn’t that cute?”

We’re asking, “Would we tell a family to make time for this?” That’s much more useful.

Haunted Mansion Holiday and Halloween Treats

Of course, Haunted Mansion Holiday is on our list.

The classic attraction receives its annual holiday overlay featuring Jack Skellington and the residents of Halloween Town. It’s one of those Disneyland experiences that feels especially right during Halloween Time, and we’re excited to experience it again with fresh eyes.

Then comes one of the best parts of exploring Disney with our team: the food.

We’re planning one big seasonal treat spread so everyone can sample the Halloween offerings together. And we’re not going into it assuming everything will be amazing just because it’s a limited-time Disney snack.

Some treats will probably be worth ordering again. Others might be better for sharing, and some may be perfectly fine to skip. We’ll tell you what we actually think.

When you’re spending real money on a Disney vacation, “It’s cute!” isn’t always enough reason to buy something.

Halloween Merchandise and Oogie Boogie Bash

We’ll also be checking out the Halloween merchandise. Seasonal items can move quickly, so we’ll be looking at what’s new, what’s available and where you can find it. And yes, we’ll probably find a few things we didn’t plan on buying.

Some members of our Magic Mornings Vacations team will also be attending Oogie Boogie Bash, Disneyland’s separately ticketed Halloween party at Disney California Adventure.

I won’t personally be attending the party this year, but I’ll be able to hear firsthand from our team members who are there. That’s one of the benefits of working as part of a travel-planning team. We can experience different things and share what we learn.

For some families, Oogie Boogie Bash may be a highlight of a Halloween vacation. For others, the additional ticket may not make sense for their budget or schedule. It’s all about figuring out what’s right for your trip.

And maybe it’s just that events like Oogie Boogie Bash are not for you. And if that’s you and you don’t know it yet, we can help you determine if the event is a good fit for you or not. In our full honesty, we are not here to see you every ticket. And our opinion on this event might actually surprise you. But our opinion never matters when figuring out if special events are a fit for your family!

Sunset in Cars Land

After a full day of Halloween, we’re heading to Cars Land as the sun starts to go down.

This is one of the moments I’m especially excited about because there’s something about Disneyland at sunset. Walt Disney talked about loving Disneyland around sundown, when the lights come on and the park begins to change. He once described it by saying, “It seems like a new kind of magic takes over in Disneyland after dark.”

Cars Land is one of my favorite places to experience that transition.

We’ll be checking out Luigi’s Honkin’ Halloween, Mater’s Graveyard Jamboree and the Halloween details throughout Cars Land. We’ll also experience Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark before making our way toward Halloween Screams.

Ending the Night With Halloween Screams

Halloween Screams returns during Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026 with Halloween music, Disney villains and spooky projections, with fireworks on select nights.

This is another area where planning can make your day easier. Outdoor entertainment can be affected by weather, and fireworks aren’t necessarily part of every performance, so we always recommend knowing your options and having a backup plan.

You don’t need to plan every minute of your Disneyland vacation. Have a plan, know your priorities and leave enough room to change course when something unexpected happens.

Sometimes those unplanned moments end up being the best part of the day.

What We’re Watching for as Disney Travel Planners

By the end of opening day, we’ll have experienced a lot of Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026. We’ll have seen the seasonal characters, explored the resort hotels, walked through Downtown Disney, checked out the Main Street pumpkins, ridden Haunted Mansion Holiday, sampled seasonal treats, explored the merchandise, watched Cars Land come alive at sunset and experienced the nighttime entertainment.

But throughout the day, we’ll also be thinking about one thing:

What does all of this mean for someone planning a Disneyland vacation?

If you only have one day, what should you prioritize? If you’re traveling with young children, what might be easier to skip? If you’re trying to stay within a budget, where can you save? And if you’ve visited Disneyland many times before, what’s actually new this year?

Those are the answers we want to bring home with us.

We Don’t Just Plan Disney Vacations. We Experience Them.

There’s a lot of Disney information online, but there’s a difference between knowing that something exists and actually experiencing it.

A website can tell you that a seasonal snack is available. We want to tell you whether we’d buy it again. A website can tell you that a hotel has Halloween decorations. We want to tell you whether we’d make a special trip to see them. A website can tell you that an attraction is open. We want to help you decide whether it’s worth fitting into your day.

That’s why firsthand experience matters to us. We’ve been visiting Disney for years, and we’re still discovering something new. The more experience we have, the more we notice, and that’s what we want to bring to our travel planning and to One Man’s Dreamers.

We’re going to have fun, take way too many pictures, eat a ridiculous amount of Halloween food and probably find something we didn’t plan on buying. But we’re also going to learn.

We’ll come home with new information, new opinions and a better understanding of what Halloween Time at Disneyland 2026 actually feels like. And we’ll bring that back to you.

Planning a Disneyland Halloween Vacation?

If you’re thinking about visiting Disneyland during Halloween Time 2026, you don’t have to figure out every detail yourself. From choosing your hotel and deciding how many park days you need to figuring out whether Oogie Boogie Bash makes sense and which seasonal experiences deserve a spot on your itinerary, there are plenty of decisions to make.

The answers aren’t the same for everyone.

As Disney travel planners with Magic Mornings Vacations, we can help you sort through those choices and build a vacation around what matters most to your family, your budget and the way you like to experience Disney.

And we’ll keep doing what we love to do: going to Disney, experiencing it, learning from it and bringing what we discover back to you.

Because we’ve been doing Disney for a long time. And we’re still discovering something new.

OK, Dreamers… Halloween Time at Disneyland is one of those seasons that makes returning to the parks feel a little different every year. We’re excited to see what 2026 brings, and we’ll be sharing what we discover along the way.

And this is just one of many trips on our list! In September and October, we will be back to Disney World for much more. Including a stay at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, and so much more that we will reveal in time. So stay tuned!

If you’re planning a Disneyland vacation, stick with us. We’ll keep exploring, keep asking questions and keep giving you the honest Disney advice we’d want for our own families.

See you at Disneyland! If you’re ready to start planning your Disney vacation, we’d love to help make it as stress free and delicious as possible.
