Hey Dreamers! There are a lot of incredible places to stay at Walt Disney World, but if you asked us to choose one area that feels the most magical, relaxing, and convenient, we’d pick the EPCOT Resort Area every single time.

The funny thing is that our love for the EPCOT Resort Area started long before we ever stayed there.
Growing up, we spent countless vacations walking around Crescent Lake, staring at Disney Beach Club Resort, Disney Yacht Club Resort, and Disney BoardWalk Resort. These resorts felt elegant, exciting, and completely out of reach. We dreamed about what it would be like to stay there someday.
Years later, those dreams became reality.
We’ve stayed at Disney Beach Club Resort, Disney BoardWalk Resort, and Disney Riviera Resort. During our 10-plus years as Disney cast members, we also worked throughout the area, including working at Bell Services at the BoardWalk, hurricane support operations at Disney Yacht Club Resort and time spent working at Cape May Cafe inside Disney Beach Club Resort. We even had the opportunity to stay at Yacht Club while supporting those operations.
Because we’ve experienced the EPCOT Resort Area as Disney fans, resort guests, cast members, Disney Vacation Club members, and now as parents, we’ve developed a deep appreciation for what makes this part of Walt Disney World so special.
The EPCOT Resort Area isn’t just a place to sleep. It’s a destination all by itself!
What Is the EPCOT Resort Area?
The EPCOT Resort Area surrounds Crescent Lake, the beautiful waterfront district located between EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The resorts that make up the EPCOT Resort Area include:
- Disney Beach Club Resort
- Disney Yacht Club Resort
- Disney BoardWalk Resort
- Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin – this resort is not owned and operated by Disney but is a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel
- Walt Disney World Swan Reserve – this resort is not owned and operated by Disney but is a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel
While the Disney Riviera Resort isn’t technically considered part of the EPCOT Resort Area, we’re including it because it’s only a short Skyliner ride away and shares many of the same advantages.
What makes the EPCOT Resort Area different is that everything feels connected.
You can walk to EPCOT. You can walk to Hollywood Studios. You can take a Friendship Boat. You can ride the Skyliner. You can enjoy incredible dining without ever entering a theme park.
And perhaps most importantly, you can slow down and enjoy Walt Disney World at a different pace.
International Gateway EPCOT Changes Everything
If there’s one reason we recommend the EPCOT Resort Area above almost every other Disney resort location, it’s International Gateway EPCOT.

Located between the Epcot World Showcase France and United Kingdom pavilions, International Gateway EPCOT provides a second entrance into EPCOT that completely changes your park strategy.
Instead of entering beneath Spaceship Earth alongside thousands of other people you’re entering directly into World Showcase. For rope drop, this can be a huge advantage Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is practically next door and Frozen Ever After is only a short walk away.
While many people entering through the front gates of Epcot are racing toward Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, EPCOT Resort Area guests can often experience Ratatouille and Frozen much more efficiently.
At the end of the night, the benefits become even more obvious. After watching Luminous: The Symphony of Us, you can simply walk back to your resort. No bus lines. No transportation crowds (unless you are staying at the Riveria as you will need to board the Skyliner via a longer line).
No long waits. Just a short stroll back to your room. That convenience alone is one of the biggest reasons we love the EPCOT Resort Area.
Disney Beach Club Resort Has Disney’s Best Pool (like ever!)
When most Disney fans talk about Disney Beach Club Resort, one thing immediately comes to mind. Stormalong Bay.
Many consider Stormalong Bay the best pool complex on Disney property, and honestly, we agree.

Featuring a sand-bottom pool, lazy river, shipwreck-themed water slide, and multiple swimming areas, it feels more like a miniature water park than a traditional resort pool.
One of our favorite memories happened while swimming at Stormalong Bay and watching EPCOT fireworks light up the sky beyond Crescent Lake. Those are the moments that make Disney vacations unforgettable.
Dining options at Disney Beach Club Resort include:
- Cape May Cafe Character Breakfast
- Cape May Cafe Seafood Dinner Buffet
- Beaches & Cream Soda Shop
- Beaches & Cream Walk-Up Window – seriously the best option when Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is booked up!
- Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill
- Beach Club Marketplace – for the quick breakfast or late night munchies
The location is equally impressive. You can leave EPCOT through International Gateway and be back at your room in just minutes. For families who love EPCOT festivals, this is a game changer.

Disney Yacht Club Resort Is One of Disney World’s Most Underrated Resorts
Disney Yacht Club Resort often gets overshadowed by its sister resort, Beach Club.
During our years as Disney cast members, we spent time supporting hurricane operations here and even stayed at Yacht Club while assisting Disney teams. Those experiences gave us a unique behind-the-scenes perspective of the resort.
Yacht Club offers a slightly more refined atmosphere, and a much darker lobby while still sharing access to Stormalong Bay.
The nautical theme feels elegant without being stuffy.
Many of the water-facing rooms offer spectacular views of Crescent Lake and Disney BoardWalk Resort.
Dining options include:
- Ale & Compass Restaurant
- Ale & Compass Lounge
- Ale & Compass Market
- Crew’s Cup Lounge
- Yachtsman Steakhouse
One of the best photo spots is near the Yacht Club lighthouse where Crescent Lake, Friendship Boats, and BoardWalk combine for a picture-perfect view.

Disney BoardWalk Resort Has the Best Atmosphere at Walt Disney World
If Beach Club wins for pools, Disney BoardWalk Resort wins for atmosphere.
Our family loves Disney BoardWalk Resort.
Members of our team once worked here, making every visit feel a little nostalgic.
What makes BoardWalk special is that the destination itself becomes entertainment.
Whether you’re enjoying an early morning walk, grabbing a snack during the afternoon, or watching the lights reflect across Crescent Lake after dark, there’s always something happening.
Dining options include:
- Flying Fish
- The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant
- The Cake Bake Shop Bakery
- BoardWalk Deli
- Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs
- Pizza Window
- BoardWalk Ice Cream
- Carousel Coffee
- Belle Vue Lounge
- AbracadaBar
- Leaping Horse Libations
The nighttime atmosphere around BoardWalk remains one of our favorite experiences anywhere at Walt Disney World. Sometimes our favorite Disney memories happen outside the parks.

Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve Offer Incredible Value
Many Disney fans overlook Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve.
That’s unfortunate because these resorts provide some of the best value in the EPCOT Resort Area.
Although they’re operated by Marriott rather than Disney, guests still receive many Disney resort benefits.
These include:
- Early Theme Park Entry
- Extended Evening Hours on eligible nights
- Walking access to EPCOT
- Walking access to Hollywood Studios
- Friendship Boat transportation
- Disney transportation connections
Dining options are extensive:
- Swan Restaurants:
- Il Mulino New York Trattoria
- Kimonos
- Garden Grove
- Java
- Grounds
Dolphin Restaurants:
- Shula’s Steak House
- Rosa Mexicano
- Todd English’s Bluezoo
- Fuel
- Fountain
- Phins
- Cabana Bar & Beach Club
- Picabu
Swan Reserve Restaurants:
- Amare
- Tangerine
- Grounds
These resorts often come in at lower rates than Disney-owned deluxe resorts. Just remember to factor in resort fees and parking fees when comparing costs.

Disney Riviera Resort Is Close Enough to Count
We know that the Disney Riviera Resort isn’t technically part of the EPCOT Resort Area.
But when you can board the Skyliner and arrive at International Gateway in minutes, it certainly feels connected.
Disney Riviera Resort combines beautiful European-inspired design with one of Disney’s best transportation options.
Dining options include:
- Topolino’s Terrace Flavors of the Riviera
- Primo Piatto
- Bar Riva
- Le Petit Cafe
Topolino’s Terrace remains one of the hardest dining reservations to secure thanks to its incredible character breakfast and stunning rooftop views.
For many families, Riviera offers the perfect balance between luxury and convenience.

Transportation Around the EPCOT Resort Area
One of the biggest advantages of the EPCOT Resort Area is transportation. Guests have more options here than almost anywhere else on Disney property.
Transportation options include:
- Walking to EPCOT
- Walking paths to Hollywood Studios
- Friendship Boats
- Disney Skyliner
- Disney buses, although I have never been on a Disney bus at these resorts
- Crescent Lake walking paths
Being able to walk back to your room after a long park day is one of those luxuries you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve experienced it.
Why We Keep Returning to the EPCOT Resort Area
Ok Dreamers… the biggest advantage of the EPCOT Resort Area isn’t the restaurants. It isn’t the pools. It isn’t even the fireworks views. It’s time. Time spent with your family instead of waiting for transportation. Time saved walking back to your room. Time enjoying Crescent Lake instead of standing in bus queues.
The EPCOT Resort Area allows you to experience Walt Disney World differently.
From childhood dreams of staying at Beach Club to working in the area as Disney cast members, this corner of Walt Disney World has become one of our favorite places anywhere on property.
Beautiful resorts. Amazing dining. Fantastic transportation. Fireworks views. Stormalong Bay. International Gateway. Friendship Boats. The Skyliner. It’s all right here.
And that’s exactly why we keep coming back.

Planning A Disney Trip Can Honestly Feel Overwhelming
If we’ve already helped you, just know this is honestly only scratching the surface of planning a Disney World trip.
We are travel planners too, and we love helping people understand the honest ins and outs of Disney vacations without the overly polished influencer version of everything.
Because honestly? Not every viral restaurant is worth your money. Not every “must do” ride deserves a two hour wait. And not every Disney strategy works for every family.
For example, we are not there to sell you tickets to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party until we know it’s right for you as it can be a waste of money if we just sell you tickets to “sell”.
That is why we focus so heavily on realistic advice, honest food reviews, real crowd expectations, practical park strategies, and helping people actually enjoy their vacation instead of stressing through it.
Ok Dreamers, whether you are planning your first EPCOT trip, trying to understand Lightning Lane, figuring out the best festival dates, or just wondering which restaurants are genuinely worth the hype, we are always here to help!
Disney has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s more than a vacation destination to me, it’s a place filled with stories, memories, and experiences that continue to inspire me every time I visit. I love helping families discover that same, whether it’s their first trip or their fiftieth.
My Disney experience goes far beyond being a fan. I spent more than 10 years as a Cast Member, beginning at Space Mountain through the Disney College Program before moving into Disney College Recruiting and Disney marketing roles. I’m also a Disney Vacation Club Member of more than 30 years, an Annual Passholder, and a frequent visitor to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I follow the latest Disney news, merchandise, and park updates closely, but I also believe the best Disney vacations aren’t about constantly checking an app or rushing to the next attraction.
Not to mention, I am also a bit of a Disney historian myself. For more for fun content like this, visit OneMansDreamers.com.
